Four private days from Marrakech to Fez: a luxury kasbah in the Dades Gorges, two nights in a luxury Sahara camp and dinner on the dunes.
This private luxury desert tour in Morocco takes you from Marrakech to Fez in 4 days, with the best comfort on the road. A private 4x4 crosses the High Atlas to Aït Ben Haddou and a luxury kasbah in the Dades Gorges. Then you spend two nights in a luxury camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, with a private tent and bathroom, a private dinner on the dunes and a private 4x4 tour of the desert.
Two nights in Merzouga give you time to rest, not only to sleep and leave. Our team lives next to these dunes, in the village of Khamlia, so you are with people who know the desert well. Read our Merzouga desert guide and our luxury Morocco travel guide, or ask us for a tailor-made trip with more days.
This tour is offered only in the Luxury category.
Day 1
Your private driver picks you up at your riad in Marrakech in a comfortable 4x4. You climb into the High Atlas and cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass, at 2,260 metres, with stops at viewpoints. In Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO earth village, a local guide walks with you to the top of the ksar. After lunch you pass Ouarzazate and the Rose Valley. In the evening you reach a luxury kasbah in the Dades Gorges, where dinner is served with a view of the red mountains.
Overnight: Dades Valley
Day 2
After breakfast you stop at viewpoints over the famous winding road of the Dades Gorges. Then you drive to Tinghir and walk inside the Todra Gorges, between very high rock walls. In the afternoon you reach Merzouga. A camel takes you into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset, to your luxury camp with a private tent, a real bed and a bathroom with hot water. Tonight our team prepares a private dinner on the dunes, with lanterns and carpets on the sand.
Overnight: Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
Day 3
Wake up early and climb a dune to watch the sunrise over the Sahara. After breakfast your driver takes you on a private 4x4 tour around Erg Chebbi. You see seasonal lakes, old mines and the tents of nomad families, where you may drink tea. In Khamlia, our home village, musicians play Gnawa music with drums and iron castanets. The afternoon is free to rest in the camp, walk in the dunes or try sandboarding. Dinner and second night in the luxury camp.
Overnight: Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
Day 4
After a last look at the dunes, you drive north along the Ziz Valley, a deep canyon full of palm trees. You can have lunch in Midelt, a town between two mountain ranges. Then you cross the Middle Atlas and stop in the cedar forest near Ifrane to see Barbary macaques. Ifrane is a clean mountain town with sloping roofs. You arrive in Fez in the early evening, and your driver takes you to your luxury riad in the old city. End of the tour.
