Five calm days: a luxury riad in Marrakech, a private guide, hammam and spa, a night in an Agafay luxury camp and a High Atlas lodge.
This luxury Marrakech tour is made for travellers who want comfort, calm and beautiful places without long drives. You stay two nights in a luxury riad in the medina, discover the city with a private licensed guide and relax in a hammam and spa. Then you sleep in a luxury camp in the stone desert of Agafay, only 45 minutes away, and spend a night in a mountain lodge in the High Atlas.
The trip is fully private and can start on any day. It is a good choice if you do not have time for the long road to the Sahara. Not sure which desert to choose? Read our guide Agafay or Sahara: which one is for you and our luxury Morocco travel guide. We can also change every part of the plan in a tailor-made trip.
This tour is offered only in the Luxury category.
Day 1
Your private driver meets you at Marrakech airport and helps with your luggage. A short drive takes you to your luxury riad in the medina, a quiet house with a garden courtyard and elegant rooms. You receive a welcome mint tea and a short introduction to the city. The rest of the day is free. You can rest by the pool, enjoy the rooftop terrace at sunset or take a first walk to Jemaa el-Fna square. Night in Marrakech.
Overnight: Marrakech
Day 2
After breakfast, your private licensed guide meets you at the riad. You walk through the medina and the souks, visit the painted rooms of the Bahia Palace and see the blue walls of the Majorelle Garden. Your guide takes you to good artisans, with no pressure to buy. In the afternoon you relax in a traditional hammam and spa, with steam, black soap, a gentle scrub and a massage. In the evening we can book a table for you at a high-end restaurant (dinner at your own cost). Second night in Marrakech.
Overnight: Marrakech
Day 3
In the late morning your driver takes you to the Agafay desert, about 45 minutes from Marrakech. This is a stone desert of soft hills, with the High Atlas mountains in the distance. You check in to a luxury camp with a private tent, a real bed and a bathroom. Before sunset you choose a camel ride or a quad ride across the hills. In the evening you have dinner under the stars, then enjoy the silence and the night sky. Night in the Agafay camp.
Overnight: Agafay Desert
Day 4
After breakfast at the camp you drive into the High Atlas, to the Ourika Valley or the village of Imlil, depending on the season and your wishes. A mountain guide leads you on an easy walk past walnut trees, small fields and earth villages. At midday a Berber family welcomes you into their home for a traditional lunch of tajine and fresh bread. In the afternoon you check in to a luxury mountain lodge or kasbah with views of the peaks. Night in the High Atlas.
Overnight: Imlil (High Atlas)
Day 5
If you wish, you can start the day with a hot-air balloon flight at sunrise over the plains near Marrakech (optional, at extra cost). You see the Atlas mountains turn pink in the first light. Otherwise, enjoy a slow breakfast with a mountain view. Then your private driver takes you back to Marrakech, to your hotel or to the airport for your flight home. If you want to stay longer, we can add more nights in Marrakech or by the ocean in Essaouira.
Marrakech → Agafay Desert → Ourika Valley → Imlil (High Atlas) → Marrakech

Agafay is a stone desert with soft hills, about 45 minutes from Marrakech. It has no big sand dunes. The Sahara dunes of Erg Chebbi are far from Marrakech and need at least 3 days. Read Agafay or Sahara to choose.
Yes. Tents have real beds, good linens and a private bathroom with hot water. In winter the nights are cold, so the camps give warm blankets and often heating.
The flights are run by licensed operators and only take place in good weather. If the wind is too strong, the flight is moved or cancelled. The balloon is optional and not included in the tour.
