Chilean travellers know deserts and mountains well, from Atacama to the Andes. A Morocco tour from Chile shows you a very different side of these landscapes: the red kasbahs of the Atlas, the deep Todra Gorges and the high dunes of Erg Chebbi.
We live and work in Merzouga, next to the dunes, and all our tours are private. Our 7-day desert and south tour from Marrakech is a good choice for nature lovers, and the Spain and Morocco tour is ideal if you fly through Madrid.
⚠ Pending verification: Pending verification – always confirm with the Moroccan embassy or consulate before booking flights.
Chilean passport holders have commonly been able to visit Morocco for tourism without a visa, usually for up to 90 days. Rules can change, so please confirm with the Moroccan embassy in Santiago before you buy your flights.
Your passport should be valid for at least six months after your arrival.
There are no direct flights from Chile to Morocco. Most travellers connect through Madrid, with other options via Paris, Lisbon, São Paulo or Istanbul. Arrival airports include Marrakech (RAK), Casablanca (CMN), Fez (FEZ) and Tangier (TNG).
The Moroccan dirham (MAD) is a closed currency, so you will get it in Morocco. Bring euros or US dollars to exchange, or use ATMs in the cities. Keep cash for markets and small towns.
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal. Seasons are opposite to Chile: the Chilean winter break in July is summer in Morocco and very hot in the desert, so we plan early starts.
During the Chilean summer holidays (January and February), Morocco is in winter. The sky is often clear, which is good for stargazing, but nights in the Sahara are cold.
Morocco is generally a safe and friendly country. Use normal care in crowded medinas, use licensed guides and drink bottled water. Travel insurance is mandatory for all our tours.
Chilean citizens have commonly been able to visit Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days. Please confirm the current rules with the Moroccan embassy.
