Morocco Tour from Mexico: Visa, Flights & Travel Tips

Many Mexican travellers discover Morocco after a trip to Spain, and they are surprised by how close the two countries are. A Morocco tour from Mexico can include Andalusia, the ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar, the blue town of Chefchaouen and the Sahara desert.

Our Spain and Morocco tour covers all of this in 13 days. Our drivers speak Spanish, and all tours are private and flexible. If you have less time, a desert trip from Marrakech is a great choice.

Visa

⚠ Pending verification: Pending verification – always confirm with the Moroccan embassy or consulate before booking flights.

Mexican passport holders have commonly been allowed to visit Morocco for tourism without a visa, usually for up to 90 days. Rules can change, so please confirm with the Embassy of Morocco in Mexico City before you buy your flights.

If you travel through Spain or other Schengen countries, also check the European entry requirements for Mexican citizens. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.

Flights and connections

There are no direct flights from Mexico to Morocco. The most common route is through Madrid, with connections also via Paris, Lisbon or Istanbul. From Madrid there are short flights to Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez and Tangier.

Many travellers fly into Madrid and leave from Marrakech (RAK) or Casablanca (CMN), which avoids returning to the starting point.

Money and payments

Morocco uses the dirham (MAD), a closed currency. Bring euros or US dollars in cash to exchange in Morocco, or use ATMs in the cities. Cards are accepted in hotels, but markets and small towns need cash.

Best time to travel

March to May and September to November are the best months. Easter week (Semana Santa) is a popular time with good weather, so book early. Summer is very hot in the desert, and winter brings cold nights in the Sahara.

If you travel during the December holidays, bring warm clothes for the desert camp. Days are often sunny and pleasant in Marrakech.

Safety and health

Morocco is generally a safe and welcoming country. Use normal care in crowded medinas, agree on prices before buying, and use licensed guides. Drink bottled water and take travel insurance, which is required for our tours.
